Resources for Pro Bono Attorneys

Volunteer attorneys will have access to the support they need, including free or reduced fee CLE training, mentoring, and malpractice insurance for volunteer efforts, as well as volunteer opportunities through a variety of NLS’s projects, new initiatives and partnerships with local bar associations, the Pittsburgh Pro Bono Partnership, and VetLex.

PAProbono.net is an online legal community that provides information and resources for pro bono attorneys, legal aid attorneys, paralegals, and other legal advocates interested in increasing access to justice. This site contains resources to assist in your pro bono representation of people experiencing domestic violence and low-income clients.  NLS encourages pro bono volunteers to visit the website at www.paprobono.net to access helpful training materials and other resources. Click on the “Join the Pennsylvania Civil Law Practice Area” link on the home page to become a member of this password-protected website.

In addition, PAProBono.net provides forums where volunteers can actively participate in Pennsylvania’s pro bono community. It also contains a variety of tools to help advocates in representing legal aid clients. Some  features, like current news items and general calendar events (i.e. Listing free CLE training events), are available to the public, but most of the tools are only accessible to members of the “Practice Areas” listed on the site.

PAprobono.net is free to use by NLS pro bono volunteers however you must be an approved member of the site to access and contribute materials to the Library.PAprobono.net is free for NLS pro bono volunteers to use. Simply request access to create an account by emailing Judy Hale, NLS Pro Bono Manager, to access the site and even contribute materials to this online resource library.
