Managing Attorney for Project Management
Professional Experience
As Managing Attorney for Project Management, Ms. Modell works with the Director of Program Performance and Compliance to ensure that all NLS’s grant-funded projects are functioning as required by the terms of each contractual agreement. She also works to establish and implement program processes and protocols to ensure the effective provision of program services to NLS clients and works to ensure that NLS captures and provides accurate data for reporting and fundraising purposes.
Prior to joining NLS in 2019, she worked as a staff attorney at Ruder Law, a firm specializing in disability rights and special education matters. Prior to working there, she worked at several local law firms including: Caroselli, Beachler, McTiernan and Conby; Berger and Green; the Rhode Island Disability Law Center and Legal Aid Society of New York, specializing in social security disability and veterans benefits.
Education
Ms. Modell earned her J.D. from Northwestern University School of Law in 1991. She earned a Bachelor of Arts in Linguistics from the University of Chicago in 1985.
Bar Association Memberships/Admissions
Ms. Modell is admitted to practice law in both Pennsylvania and New York and is a member of the Allegheny County Bar Associaiton. She is also on the Board of the Autism Connection of Pennsylvania, Achieva Family Trust and the Black Women's Policy Center.
