New Evenings Hours for Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank

Reminder: for persons who are between jobs and are in a temporary financial crunch, there is a program from the Pennsylvania Department of Public Welfare (DPW) is designed to ease the burden. The program is called TANF Diversion, and it provides short term assistance for people in financial crisis due to a temporary loss of income. It is a one-time payment, and the maximum amount is equal to up to three months of the monthly grant for a specific family size.

Food Stamps for Able-Bodied Adults Without Dependents (ABAWDs) - Pennsylvania has just received a whole state waiver that will eliminate the ABAWD work requirement throughout the state.  This means that ABAWDS will no longer have to work 80 hours in order to qualify for food stamps.

Expansion of Eligibility for Food Stamps - as of October 1, 2008, there will no longer be an asset limit for eligibility for food stamps and all child care costs can now be deducted from income.

Carnegie Museums offer a discount policy for anyone with a Pennsylvania Access Card - $1 general admission for cardholder and up to three additional people to the Carnegie Musuem of Natural History, the Carnegie Museum of Art, the Carnegie Science Center and the Warhol. Cardholder will need driver's license or other form of ID.
